[Question] Do I need a Japanese transit visa if I travel from India to Tokyo, and then Tokyo to the US? Will using two passports cause a hindrance in Japan?

I had originally asked this question in r/JapanTravel , but since my post was deleted twice, I am seeking an answer in this Subreddit.

I have two issues: One about carrying two passports; the second about connecting flights.

I will be leaving India and stopping in Japan without exiting the airport, then my final destination is in the United States, and I have a valid F-1 visa in my Indian passport and other pertaining documents to enter the country.

My US visa will expire in 2023, but that visa is stamped in a passport that expired in 2020, upon which I renewed my passport. As per American law, my visa is still valid but I have to carry both the old and new passports while traveling. _Will possessing two passports cause any trouble while I am in Japan?_ Could this cause an issue at India itself, let alone Japan?

_My second doubt is that do I need a transit visa or a shore pass if the layover is pretty long ?_ It begins and ends on the same calendar date in Japan, so I would leave on the same day that I arrive.

Both of the flights, i.e. the one going from India to Tokyo and then from Tokyo to the USA, are of the same airline, which is ANA.

Both flights will arrive at and depart from Terminal 1.

Should I consult a Japanese embassy/consulate about all of this?

Lastly, I have been reading that most shops, restaurants and the duty free at the Narita airport are closed due to Covid. Is this true? If it is, it might make the 9-hour gap hard, and I may starve Lol.

Thank you for your help beforehand.
