I’m an incredibly light sleeper who suffers from misophonia as well. If you don’t know what that is, it pretty much is extreme sensitivity to certain sounds that can provoke anger and anxiety. Traveling is my passion and even though I often struggle with getting a full night’s worth of rest, I still find there to be many more pros than cons, and I could never see myself giving up solo traveling.
After traveling in Colombia and Mexico for 5 months however, I had gotten to the point where I felt quite frustrated with all the dogs barking throughout the night, people partying, constant honking, music blasting until the early morning , etc. I mainly travel in budget friendly destinations but fortunately my income has been steadily increasing, and I feel like more developed countries such as Japan and South Korea would be more suitable. However, they are still much more expensive than what I’m used to and I’d prefer to travel on a budget. Any recommendations for more affordable Latin American or Asian countries that aren’t incredibly loud? I am planning on traveling to Peru in a few months and just hope I’m not exhausted from lack of sleep when I go on strenuous hikes.
* I know this may sound dumb to some people who don’t mind noise but it is something that I struggle with even when using earplugs. I understand that everyone will inevitably get poor rest, but just wish it wasn’t something that was so common for myself.
*Update* Thank you guys so much for your responses and recommendations, I truly appreciate it!! I really enjoyed reading through all of these recommendations and researching certain regions I haven’t previously considered traveling to such as the Balkan states.
