I started my solo euro trip a week ago. As I was heading to my train to Liverpool from Edinburgh I rolled my ankle going down some stairs. I fell some steps and immediately knew it wasn’t going to be good and it was going to take me a bit to get up. Lots of people asked me if I was okay/needed help which was really nice. Some girls even got me a bandage so I could wrap it. I managed to make it to my train but the rest of the trip to Liverpool was really painful. I got to my hotel and went to the hospital. Luckily not broken just really badly sprained. I feel lucky to be somewhere where I can get room service, have good wifi for Netflix binges and that I can kind of walk on it even if it’s painful. Funny thing is that the same thing with the same foot happened to me in Mexico but that time I couldn’t even put my foot down. I was lucky as I had met a British guy who I was traveling with. He became my nurse for a couple of weeks. Wish we still talk so we can laugh at the fact that I rolled my ankle, on the same foot, traveling alone, again. I guess my question for you all is, do you have any stories of being injured/sick abroad by yourself? How did you cope? I’m supposed to head to London for a week tomorrow then off to Lisbon for another week but I’m seriously considering going back to the US as it will probably be really hard for me to be traveling around.
